A Time for Play - Season 7: Season Pass

About this event

A Time for Play | Play Therapy Training Series is a curriculum of interactive and introductory level Play Therapy specific continuing education events.  This series of trainings will teach practitioners foundational theories of Play Therapy and specific skills and interventions for effective and transformative Play Therapy.  

Series participants are eligible to earn 150 hours of Play Therapy Instruction in the primary areas of focus that are required to obtain the Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credential.  

The series is comprised of 20 face-to-face contact-hour Continuing Education events and 6 non-contact homework assignments from Fall 2025 to Spring 2026.

This series is designed to meet the Play Therapy instruction requirements for Play Therapy credentialing through the Association of Play Therapy.  Prior knowledge of Play Therapy is helpful but not necessary. These events are intended for licensed mental health professionals and hours apply towards maintenance of mental health license.

Season 7 Trainings will be on Thursdays and beginsat 9:00 AM and end at 4:00 PM.  Most trainings will be at:

Season 6 trainings are scheduled to be face-to-face in-person events.  Participants must attend the trainings in-person for the entire training to receive credit.  Continuing Education hours (CEs) are provided for LPCs, LMFTs, and Social Workers.  There will be a 60-minute break for lunch and lunch will NOT be provided.

*Purchasing a Season Pass grants participants guaranteed admission to all 20, six-hour contact training sessions AND eligibility to complete up to 6 homework assignments over the course of the series to earn an additional 30 hours of non-contact continuing education hours.  Those that purchase the Season Pass will also receive a binder of all course content and become eligible for up to 2 make-up passes in case of an excused absence.

Each professional is responsible for the individual requirements as stipulated by his/her licensing agency. Please contact your individual licensing board/regulatory agency to review continuing education requirements for licensure renewal. Please note: You must attend "live" (in real-time) for the duration of the training to earn CE credits.

After the event, you will receive access to your evaluation and continuing education certificate via a personalized "attendee dashboard" link, hosted on the CE-Go website. This link will be sent to the email account you used to register for the event.

Target Audience

This educational activity is intended for behavioral health professionals, including Psychologists, Social Workers, Counselors, and MFT's.

Event Learning Objectives

  • Describe the major principals of utilizing Play Therapy as a treatment intervention
  • Recite the significant history and development of Play Therapy
  • Explain the therapeutic value and powers of play in each theory of Play Therapy
  • Use basic Play Therapy skills, methods and interventions
  • Use Play Therapy specific documentation of clinical services
  • Assess clients through different Play Therapy specific theoretical lenses
  • Identify ethical dilemmas that may arise in the practice of Play Therapy and identify strategies for navigating such ethical dilemmas

Policies

Post-Test & Evaluation

Participants will be given a post-test and an anonymous evaluation to complete at the end of each training.  Participants must attest to completing the evaluation and must complete the post-test with a minimum score of 80% to receive Continuing Education credit.  Participants will be allowed up to 3 attempts to earn a passing score to receive their CE Certificate.

A Time for Play Continuing Education Credits Policy

This Continuing Education event is acceptable for the purposes of license renewal for Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists in the state of Texas by fully complying with Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council guidelines and Texas Administrative Code RULE §781.501, RULE §681.142, & RULE §801.261

It is the responsibility of mental health professionals to check with their state board to determine if credit issued through an NBCC Approved Continuing Education Provider or an Association for Play Therapy approved provider of the play therapy CE is accepted for credit by their state board.
 
The Association for Play Therapy sets the credentialing standards for Play Therapists and approves applications for the Registered Play Therapist Credential.  Please review the credentialing standards for full list of the requirements to obtain the credential by visiting the Association for Play Therapy website here: www.a4pt.org

A Time for Play Cancellation & Refund Policy

Registration refunds will NOT be made to parties who register but do not attend or do not request a refund from the organizer at least 24 hours in advance.


A Time for Play reserves the right to cancel any of these training in the event of unforeseen circumstances. If such a cancellation occurs, A Time for Play will attempt to notify registrants and refund all registration fees.
