About this live event

Learn the core theory and skills of Ecosystemic Play Therapy and how conceptualization through an ecosystemic lens can enhance Play Therapy treatment! This continuing education event teaches participants the theory and skills of Ecosystemic Play Therapy. Participants will learn about the Ecosystemic Play Therapy assessment processes intervention selection processes used to conceptualize and treat clients. Participants will learn through interactive skills practice and discussion of case examples.

  • Recite the core theoretical concepts of Developmental Play Therapy.
  • Apply Developmental Play Therapy theory to conceptualize clients.
  • Recite the Association for Play Therapy’s guidelines regarding touch in Play Therapy.
  • Analyze the ethical and therapeutic risks and benefits of use of touch in treatment.
  • Identify Developmental Play Therapy methods, skills, and interventions.
  • Assess when Developmental Play Therapy is an appropriate intervention for a client.

  • Steven L. Parks, LCSW-S, MBA, RPT-S

    Steven L. Parks is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Board Approved Supervisor and serves in the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work as a full-time clinical Lecturing Faculty professor. Steven is a Registered Play Therapist & Supervisor (RPT-S) and training director of the A Time for Play | Play Therapy training series based in Houston, TX. He also maintains a small private practice in Sugar Land, Texas and specializes in working with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing trauma symptoms, depression, anxiety, and externalizing behaviors. Steven has a Bachelor’s of Arts degree of Psychology from Texas Tech University, a Master’s of Business Administration degree from University of Houston Bauer College of Business, and a Master’s of Social Work degree from the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. Steven volunteers regularly with the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), National Association of Social Workers (NASW), and with the various LGBTQ+ Community Organizations.

Post-Test & Evaluation

Participants will be given a post-test and an anonymous evaluation to complete at the end of each training.  Participants must attest to completing the evaluation and must complete the post-test with a minimum score of 80% to receive Continuing Education credit.  Participants will be allowed up to 3 attempts to earn a passing score to receive their CE Certificate.

A Time for Play Continuing Education Credits Policy

This Continuing Education event is acceptable for the purposes of license renewal for Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists in the state of Texas by fully complying with Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council guidelines and Texas Administrative Code RULE §781.501, RULE §681.142, & RULE §801.261

It is the responsibility of mental health professionals to check with their state board to determine if credit issued through an NBCC Approved Continuing Education Provider or an Association for Play Therapy approved provider of the play therapy CE is accepted for credit by their state board.
 
The Association for Play Therapy sets the credentialing standards for Play Therapists and approves applications for the Registered Play Therapist Credential.  Please review the credentialing standards for full list of the requirements to obtain the credential by visiting the Association for Play Therapy website here: www.a4pt.org

A Time for Play Cancellation & Refund Policy

Registration refunds will NOT be made to parties who register but do not attend or do not request a refund from the organizer at least 24 hours in advance.


A Time for Play reserves the right to cancel any of these training in the event of unforeseen circumstances. If such a cancellation occurs, A Time for Play will attempt to notify registrants and refund all registration fees.
